Peaceful Nature, small size, and a diet that encompasses most standard flake and meaty foods, make this Basslet an excellent beginner fish for your reef aquarium.
Although the Royal Gramma tend to swim out in the open, especially during feeding, the aquarium should contain extensive cave rockwork to provide hiding places for this fish. Once a Royal Gramma has become accustomed to a hiding place you may find it vigorously defending it. This can be comical as they will face their invader head on and open their mouths extremely wide to ward off intruders.
