Temperment: Fairly peaceful cichlid, but can be a little more aggressive towards tank mates of the same species. Good in a community setup.
Rubescens were developed in Germany by line breeding the Maleri Island race of Aulonocara sp. ”Stuartgranti Maleri”. Auloncara sp. “Rubescens” exhibits a bright orange coloration through the body and fins which contrasts with a small amount of blue on the head. Females have a distinct orange outline across the dorsal fin. Size range from 5″ and smaller. As with all cichlids, tank should be on the larger size with open swimming spaces. Do provide some rockwork for shelter, plants are optional.
