Labradors are said to have originated on the island of Newfoundland, now part of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, where they worked along fishermen collecting fish that fell out of nets and retrieving water fowl.

Labrador Retriever’s are good natured, loyal, and have the reputation as a very mellow breed and an excellent family dog , although their fun-loving nature and lack of fear may require training to ensure they do not get out of hand.

Labradors are a very intelligent breed with a good work ethic and generally good temperaments. Working roles for Labradors include: hunting, tracking and detection, disabled-assistance, carting, and therapy work.

Typical size range from 55 to 75 lbs and 21 to 24 inches. They have a life expectancy of up to 13 years.
